Hand-hammered aluminum armatures with hammered quotes from selected works by Jack Kerouac and Robert Persig, suspend two used motorcycle helmets embellished with gold-leaf stars against a night sky. The piece is illuminated by 1,200 LEDs on copper wire with four, clear shrink-wrapped converters, (non-UL in this form, but looks very cool), red rayon wrapped vintage style wiring.
 The ceiling medallion and wall mounted wire guides are TIG welded, used steel motorcycle parts.

This sconce has two sides facing in opposite directions and are interrelated. One side has a quote by Jack Kerouac which states “The only people that interest me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones that never yawn or say a commonplace thing but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes ‘Awww!’”

The opposite arm has a quote from Robert Persig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and states "When you look directly at an insane man all you see is a reflection of your own knowledge that he's insane, which is not to see him at all. To see him you must see what he saw and when you are trying to see the vision of an insane man, an oblique route is the only way to come at it."
